VDT and the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) at the University of Music and Performing Arts are inviting Tonmeisters, sound designers, engineers, scientists, manufacturers, and artists to actively contribute to the program of the 4th 4. International Conference on Spatial Audio 2017, September 7th until 10th, Graz, 2017.
Presentation proposals on following topics are welcome:

  • Multichannel systems incl. 3D audio & up-/down-mix
  • Channel and object based production
  • Wavefield synthesis and higher-order Ambisonics
  • Binaural technologies
  • Spatial audio recording, transmission and coding
  • Standardization and application of 3D audio
  • Perception and quality evaluation

Please note that active participants (presenting author, moderator, round-table panelist, exhibitor etc.) must be registered participants of 4. International Conference on Spatial Audio 2017 (basic fee 0 EUR).

You can contribute full-paper publications that you will present at ICSA either as a 15 min talk (+5 min discussion) or a A0 poster (with 12 min public announcement in the talk session and discussion in the poster session). Accompanying audio demos are encouraged. Please make sure to check compliance with Technical Notes and specify your demo requirements in your talk/poster proposal.

» PROPOSE WORKSHOP (Log in first)

The workshops focus on practical work and provide listening experience. Workshops will be held in rooms prepared with high-quality playback of numerous spatial sound formats. Please make sure to check compliance with Technical Notes and specify duration and technical requirements in your workshop proposal.

» 3D AUDIO PRODUCTION COMPETITION (Log in first)

ICSA 2017 calls for students' works to be submitted to Europe's First Student 3D Audio Production Competition - in Ambisonics.

ICSA 2017 calls for students' works to be submitted to Europe's First Student 3D Audio Production Competition - in Ambisonics. The call is issued for the three production/composition categories:
(1) contemporary music,
(2) audio drama/documentary,
(3) music recording.
The required format is to deliver multi-channel music files in .WAV or .CAF that comply with the AmbiX format format (5th order, full 3D, ACN channel ordering, SN3D normalization).

Please download free ambiX VST plugins (e.g. ambix_v0.2.6_win64_o5) for fifth-order Ambisonics, binaural presets for auralization of the ICSA concert halls within the template for a Reaper session that you should use to prepare or check your submission, and please refer to guidelines and description of the call.
