The 4th International Conference on Spatial Audio (ICSA) is happily awaiting you in Graz, Austria, where already the 3rd ICSA had taken place at an extraordinary venue, which we are lucky to choose again. The Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz are the 4th ICSA's host.

ICSA's objective is to be a forum for Tonmeisters, engineers, and researchers to discuss boiling new technologies in recording, processing, production, and distribiution of new spatial audio experiences.

ICSA brings together various experts with practical and theoretical knowledge, which is crucial to ensure continuous learning, innovation and improvement in the field of spatial audio.

Conference language is English.

The ICSA is targeted at:

The ICSA offers:

• Lectures, posters, workshops/demos, and exhibitions
• Several 3D audio reproduction setups (inlcuding VDT's facility to play back over 120 headphones)
• An Ambisonic student 3D audio (optional: plus 360 video) production competition
• A summer school on Ambisonics (Sept. 11th to Sept 13th) (first-order DIY Ambisonic microphone workshop, higher-order microphones, mixing tools, psychoacoustical fundamentals, Ambisonic reverberation, VR and gaming, combination with 360 video)


• Multichannel systems incl. 3D audio & up-/down-mix
• Channel and object based production
• Wavefield synthesis and higher-order Ambisonics

ICSA 2017 calls for students' works to be submitted to Europe's First Student 3D Audio Production Competition - in Ambisonics.
To contribute please click » here. This directs you to the easychair portal. We use it to have all submissions reviewed by the jury. To submit, please check that you have an easychair account or „sign up“ for one, first. When logged in the easychair page of 3D-Comp-ICSA, please fill out the form you get upon navigating to „add new submission“, including author information, title, abstract+audio download link, keywords, category, upload of a PDF documentation of your submission.

ICSA 2017 calls for students' works to be submitted to Europe's First Student 3D Audio Production Competition - in Ambisonics. The call is issued for the three production/composition categories:
(1) contemporary music,
(2) audio drama/documentary,
(3) music recording.
The required format is to deliver multi-channel music files in .WAV or .CAF that comply with the AmbiX format format (5th order, full 3D, ACN channel ordering, SN3D normalization).

Please download free ambiX VST plugins (e.g. ambix_v0.2.6_win64_o5) for fifth-order Ambisonics, binaural presets for auralization of the ICSA concert halls within the template for a Reaper session that you should use to prepare or check your submission, and please refer to guidelines and description of the call
