TB4: Less room 4 more music – Applying the ambisonic paradigm to spaced symmetrical mic-setups
When using a tetrahedral microphone to record 1st order ambisonics one
encounters the difficulty that most sound sources are too distant, resulting in
too little direct sound and a cumulation of noise. Employing a spaced array of
microphones in an equilateral configuration, panning the sources in a B-format
bus and mixing within the ambisonic paradigm can help overcome this issue.
